Ok, I've just had it with this issue and I'm coming back to you guys. Please try and help a fellow drupaler :)

I am trying to add a Views Carousel in the preface regions, and no matter which one I choose, IE7 shifts all my "sidebar first area" block text downwards after loading. You can see what is happening here: http://www.blogrfid.ro/probs.mov

Essentially, when reloading the page my carousel items load in a vertical line, the preface region expands to accomodate them, but after the carousel is formed and the preface region resizes itself back, all my block text remains shifted, as it would not clear itself or something like that. I have tried putting this block in all other preface regions and it is the same. I must also add that the carousel is properly sized and there are no issues in FF.

I also have a strange feeling that this is all related to the other bug with the primary links being shifted up, because it looks exactly the same when loading, just the direction changes. The menu and the preface region load, then the preface resizes itself to accomodate the content, but the menu never follows it. It is the same here, the preface region expands, the blocks follow it, but whn the resize is complete, the blocks don't follow it back. Please take a look at the 8 sec. movie I have linked here and you will see exactly how it goes.

Thanks for reading,
Valentin

I forgot to add how the 3MB file is shot: The movie starts with a loaded page, then I refresh the page, you can see how it loads, how the carousel is forming, and at the end the page is finished loading and you can see the shifted text/blocks.

I have just tried adding class="clearfix" all over the place, but it still doesn't work. Using IE Developer Toolbar, I can make it correct itself by adding class="clearfix" to the sidebar-first wrapper, but if I add this in the php file, it doesn't work. What works is deleting this class with the IE Dev Toolbar, and then the issue soles by itself. Nice, isn't it ?

F***k you Microsoft. 3 times.

I went through the exact same drama. In the end I just removed the carousel and did an alternative concept. But I endorse the sentiments expressed in your final sentence.

I am using acquia slate, and having similar problems with views carousel on IE7.
The carousel refreshes on almost any event, and it's quite ugly.

The same carousel looks beautiful on firefox!

My uneducated assumption is that ie7 reloads the css for those events.
any ideas and remedies are welcome.

Still an issue? What version of the theme are you using?

I have moved my carousel on the upper part of the page, and now it's not an issue anymore. When IE loads the rest of the content under the carousel, the page re-arranges it correctly. If you will visit my site (www.blogrfid.ro), take a close look at how the page is loading and forming, and you will understand. I also had to remove the movie due to bandwith concerns. Sorry about that.
