Guys, I am absolutely lost in the Views module. I spent literary 30 hours trying to figure out how to do an extrimely simple task.
Webdesigner who worked before me on this project has created 2 fields with CCK (name and surname). In the views he created Block display where he added 'name' field. The name displays correctly. When I tried to add surname - nothing.
I pressed add 'Fields', then choose 'Content' and then - 'surname'... pressed preview (Block) - nothing, no changes at all. The style is 'HTML list'.
Then I tried 'Table' style - 'surname' displays correctly. 'Grid' - no. 'Unformatted' - yes. Then just now I tried changing 'Grouping field' in 'HTML list' from 'none' to 'surname'. The field finally appeared. What could be the reason for that? I am so p*sed off - I looked everywhere, can't find a solution. If I remove grouping - the field dissappeares.

nrambeck commentedSo, what style do you want? HTML List? Could you provide a screenshot of your settings that don't work and the preview that has the missing field?

ovogroup commentedYes, I want to use HTML list style. But even more then just use a style I want to understand what's wrong with my actions.

merlinofchaos commentedI don't think there's anything wrong with your actions. What you have done sounds as though it should work. There might be a bug, though nobody has yet reported anything of this nature with HTML List. There was a bug like this with tables but only for people using an odd PHP version on Debian etch. I doubt this is related, though.

esmerel commentedWell, whatever was going on then doesn't appear to be going on now; I've tried it and everything shows up no matter what style you're using.
