Heres how default language for admin can be changed
Hi loze,
Heres how default language for admin can be changed:
-> On admin's account edit page I mean here -> (yoursiteurl)/user/1/edit (admin's uid by default is 1 hence user/1/edit), you will see a select list named 'Language' under 'Language settings' (This account's default language for e-mails, and preferred language for site presentation). In the select list you will have all available languages on your site listed so you can choose the one you prefer.
Similarly, you can select language for other users in the site.
Hope this helps!

BShetty
defaults not to user's language but to "Language Neutral"
Anyone else still looking for this functionality, looks like there is a module to help:
http://drupal.org/project/language_select
Pretty straightforward, and it helped me with the above question.

hello I'm slow- i18n already supported this since 1.2!
Just saw this:
i18n Internationalization module already provides this functionality.
