When I submit a post (story, blog etc.), smilies do not appear as images on the site. Only the text codes like :) are shown in the trailer and full post. I tried with filter type "full html", but it did not solve the problem. Using Drupal 6.10.

Did you enable the smileys filter for your input format? See the configure link for the formats in their settings page.
