I wish we could do that but it's not likely to happen.

Back-porting to Drupal 5 means also supporting PHP4. Then, the bigger problem would be handling Drupal5's i18n module. The i18n functionality is quite different between D5 and D6, each featuring its own set of bugs.

If you're not happy with D6, you may take comfort knowing we will certainly support D7 ;-)
