I have activated the contact module, and a checkbox is appearing on user account pages for personal contact form, with a link on the line below "your personal contact form". Clicking on this link as an ordinary authenticated user gives "Access denied". No contact box appears at all for either authenticated users or anonymous users. It DOES appear for my main site manager user (not user 1), so obviously some permission has allowed this for that user, but whatever permission it is, it must be the wrong one, because no listed permission describes granting access to contact forms.
There do not appear to be any permission settings on the permissions page that are related to this problem.
Suggested behaviour: users who select the Personal Contact Form checkbox should be contactable by all users.

dave reidUsers without the 'administer users' permission cannot use their own access form and get an access denied. See #345541: Link to contact form in user account and e-mails leads to 403.

weka commentedThis is a bug in 6.14
D7 is not even frozen yet. Why is this then considered a duplicate with issue reported for D7?
Is there some alternate way around this issue until this gets fixed in 7?
How can I get rid of the "your personal contact form" link in 6.14?
