We are trying to create a sign up for musicians so they can have a folk session (jazz session, jamming session etc) so we have 1 vocal person, 2 guitar people, 1 drummer etc and they need to sign up for a session. the session is an event with a time and date.....having trouble getting the people into the session as in "are they a guitar or drummer" etc.

Need name associated with session and instrument (using taxonomy maybe? would that work?)

in other words, we need a pick list of instruments/vocal for the event. Individuals can sign up and select what category (guitar, vocals etc) they are in then select what session they are in (monday May 5th at 6 pm).

CAn this be done using Drupal 6 and OG modules?

..you should look at the OG calander module, should be easy enough to do.

Sorry to be such a new user, but would we create additional groups (default is page and story) for each session? The site is http://www.talulatease.com.......been playing with it, but need the ability to add people to the group and with an instrument. We also put in CCK to create our own fields thinking this may help....it should not be this difficult to do should it?

We need an event it time which we created and called event....now we need another group called people and another group called instruments and be able to pick and put these into the calendar event.....

Is this possible with OG Calendar?

You could try investigating the Views module, It should be possible to have different views of the calander to meet your needs. I'm not 100% certain, but look at "exposed views" whereby you could present your calander and have a dropdown with instruments in it to display the relevent calander view.

so if you go to organic groups, where do you find the views to update? Where do I find the exposed views? Thanks so much

head to admin/build/views/list... you can filter the page by tag (if you have several views), and this one is tagged with "og". this is the default "river of news" view for all organic groups...
