Adding a new area above content top

Hello,

I'm struggling with adding a new area. I want it to be located next to the left bar and stretching above both content and right bar. I can add it and it all looks fine but I can not get it to push down content and right bar.The new 2 column area need to be dynamic in height, ie always having 10px margin to both content and right bar.
