Rewrite the output of this field

I would like to display two fields side by side on the same line. Let call them [Title] and [Date]. I am able to output both fields separately. By using "Rewrite the output of this field" on [title] and telling it to output [Title] [Date] I am able to output them on the same line(exactly what I want!). However, I get a duplicate of date. Date is printed on title's line (as I want it) and it is also printed on its own line above. If I tell date to "Exclude from display" it doesn't get printed on the rewritten title line.

My question is, how can I display two fields side by side on the same line without outputting a duplicate on the previous line?
