I would like to submit the attached patch as a possible feature request. The motivation for this is that many times, myself and others need to post a lot of content on our site but don't want to all of the notifications to go out cluttering our group members inboxes. The default on our site is for notifications to be sent, but it would nice to allow the poster to disable notifications per node. This particular patch adds an additional flag on "Published Options" to "Notify content subscribers". The default is true, but if unchecked no notification will be sent.

I'm sorry but this branch is on maintenance-only mode, no new features.

Please, consider upgrading to 6.x

I am in the process of porting to version 6, but it is a huge undertaking. In the meantime, I'm making sure that all of my current modules are at least updated to the latest versions to make the port a little less painful.

Even though it may not be something to fix in version 5, I'd like it to at least be considered for version 6.

It would be great to have this in the 5.x branch. 5.x is incomplete without this feature.
