When I'm logged in to my account on my drupal cms site I see all the newest content but when I log out and view it as a guest I see old content. I have to log in as administrator and clear the cache. I was hoping there's a setting I can edit so I wouldn't have to hit the clear cache in the performance page.

Well, thats very easy. Just go to that performance page and disable all the cache options. e.g. page compression and all others. And select minimum cache lifetime to be none.
Do this and then try posting content and check if it shows up to anonymous users or not. If still not just let me know, we might have to do something else then.
