Trying to customize css

In my theme style.css file i've tried to update:
.inline{
display: block;
margin:0 1em 1em 0;
padding:4px 4px;
border: 0px solid #FFF;
}
What i'm trying to do is, I've posted more than one image on a post and its scattered all over rather then one underneath the other. And i want them centered... What can i do?
