Description

Been thinking about documentation, and I think the best thing to do is to have a handbook page. Question is where does it belong?

I don't know if it needs a lot. It works easy I think--kinda out of the box-- You guys have worked out most of the issues so far. I found it by searching about Drupal page load time in google. Is there some other performance talk in the handbook? maybe where ever the cacherouter stuff is.
in the list here http://drupal.org/handbook/config/contribmodules

I ran into the issue with shared hosting just after getting some pages up on my first site, not long ago. It's fresh in my mind because I moved that site to a vps because of it. Now I have 2 Drupal 6 sites running on that shared host ok.
I ran across this part.. thinking it should be someplace close to the getting started.

Document what each setting does and some of the patches for 6.x that won't be going in; but are still useful.

I would like to revise the handbook page and enhance. There are many new Drupal people that really need this, but lots of them are not real technical such as myself. Many of them would read the bookpage and be confused or not realize that this is what they need. I think I can fix it up some and bring those people from not sure to installation. I know anyone can work on the pages, but wanted to let you know I have a real interest in the module because of what it has done for my sites.
This module has opened up some doors for me that would otherwise be huge issues. I had to move a site from a host, but now I run 4 Drupal sites there with only a few small problems, but then, I haven't upgraded yet either. Thanks to your work, I am adding more Drupal sites to that same host. I just wrote a handbook for node_gallery that is aimed at site users and administrators. I will look through everything get some ideas together and polish up the book page.

I hate to be real stupid here, but after searching again, I will just ask the smart person... I know that one highly common question is about permissions..
I would like to include something in the handbook..
commonly on most apachie setups that people like myself would use,, shared or manged
writeable would be 644 or rw-r--r-- no?

Permissions are tricky, thats why I made a gui interface for it.

"Generally"
644 only allows for apache to edit/del the file
664 allows for apache and ftp to edit/del the file
666 allows anyone logged in to edit/del the file

I've seen cases where the only way to del a file via ftp was by having a permission of 666, and I've also seen 644 be deletable via ftp even though it was created by apache. It really depends on the host. There isn't a general solution to the problem; although 664 is what I recommend.

basic pages need a quick check.. please advise-no rush, ur busy
would like possibly list of notable patches to work into it for easy access, for advanced users.
To keep them from searching through issue que... u know, where is it, need it now, repository.

also need to look through issues , find any notable FAQs that would help people. such as postponed, won't fix.. stuff like that. maybe you have a few...

@mickeytown2, Your handbook has been updated to reflect the most recent changes. I know your busy.
The latest dev got installed in one of my sites today.. all is well.
There was no definition for the verbose setting(it's the only one with no words), and I don't know what it pertains to... maybe i don't want to know..lol

Off Topic.. spelling, sorry.(hiding it.lol, i am bad on spelling -spell check found it-)
boost performance page

  • Crawler Batch Size:
  • Number of URL's each thread grabs per database >opperation<

no reply necessary.. Thanks for the great mod!
    good day...

Added 3 block (features) to front handbook page. Didn't know they were even there till yesterday, more neat stuff.
Corrected to uppercase for HTML Jason, JavaScript and others. Style guide has them listed.
