I have installed the xml sitemap module and run both chron and update.php.
I get no errors in status.
I have set permissions as far as the users go but when I try and access the sitemap as .../sitemap.xml i get an access denied screen.

I'm running the code version 6.x.1 issued today April 24

Does anyone have any Idea what I need to do to fix this or what may be causing it?

You will have to be logged out to view the sitemap.xml.

See the project page; the access to the site map is granted only to the anonymous user because it's the only user who doesn't cause the site map to be populated with links not accessible to the anonymous users (which includes the search engines).

The question has already been asked, and it got an answer.
