Hi there,
I saw this module and thought it was exactly what I was looking for until I read in the documentation that it does not work on "tag" type vocabularies. Is there a technical reason why this is so?
I would love to see support for "tag" vocabs added - ie the module would check the node's content against the existing list of tags and add tags to the node as appropriate.
Cheers

sdrycroft commentedIt isn't technical, it's purely down to the workflow. How would you add a term to a tag vocabulary? The Autotag module would prevent you from adding any additional terms to the vocabulary.

The same way as you add term to a non-tag vocabulary...? :]
Why not to let admin decide then, what vocabulary he wants
to autotag?

PeterZ commentedOr, from within a content type where autotagging is turned off. I'd like to add tags/terms in one content type, but then have them another content type autotagged if those terms appear within it.
I guess the workaround is to create a vocabulary called "predefined tags". Disadvantage is that I cannot create new tags when creating new content of the first content type. I have to go into taxonomy to create new terms.

widhalmt commentedHi,
I tried the Autotag module because it would be a great advantage for me when blogging via Phone or posterous. But I need free tagging when I create a blog entry in Drupal itself. Not being able to use free tagging Taxonomies with autotag is a very big drawback for me. I would really appreciate the ability to enable autotag for free tagging Taxonomies.
Just as has been said: I create Taxonomie entries when blogging directly into Drupal. Autotag should then use the already exisiting terms.

sdrycroft commentedAutotag, as of version 6.x-1.26, should now work with tag vocabularies. Please post bugs here as this has not been tested.
