My site was working just fine this afternoon. I logged out, and then could not log back in.
It takes the login without complaint, and allows you to go the correct page -- but all the other items on the page that check for logged in stay as anonymous. And then next link you click shows that one is not logged in (access denied). My site is set up so that most content is only available to users who are logged in.
After pouring over the forums, I checked the sessions table, and I have determined that the session is not being written there. All teh sessions going there have UID of 0. I am assuming that a correct behavior would be to have the UID of the user that tried to login.
Where should I start troubleshooting (or continue)?

Have you had any luck with this? Haven't happen to me but some users on my site started complaining of this since I upgraded to 4.6.6 from 4.6.3 . This usually happens to people with slower connection.
Never found the solution
I was just looking through "my discussions" and saw your question. I neved did find a solution to this. Fortunately, I followed good upgrading procedures, and I had a backup. Eventually, I went back to the backup, and all was fine. Since I have upgraded to 4.7 and never encountered the problem again. So who knows
