ajax per click term child expansion with all terms in block (not single)

Can somehow terms with more than one child terms be expanded in the same div after pressing + bottom without disappearing other terms? I know single term appearance could be useful for long term lists but usually ajax expansion is more than enough per click, any thoughts or possible code mod?

block settings: new option "just expand" [and if no child, no plus image]
