Hello,

After hours of trial-and-error attempts with the drupal installation i've found that the drupal install system doesn't report any error or notification when default.settings.php is missing.

In my case it wasn't there (probably deleted when cleaning up some drupal installations).

The weird thing was, when entering my mysql database info the installer just went back to a blank mysql database info form.

This might confuse other ppl in the future, so maybe it would be good to show an error when default.settings.php is also missing.

Yes, this is an acknowledged UI bug.

It is getting worked on: #312144: Install fails when default.settings.php is not present.
