I was following a previous thread on this which went a bit dead, so here's another shot...
Basically, for sites where only Administrators can create user accounts, it seems fairly essential that a notification email (with password, username etc.) can be sent to the user. This should be a fairly easy thing to fix up, but I can't quite get my head around it, and there seems to be no such feature built in to the user module.
If anyone has any ideas on how to rig this up, I (and I'm sure there's got to be others) would be really grateful.
While I'm on the subject, it would also be useful to be able to fill in the custom profile fields at this stage - could that be linked up too?
This all seems fairly manageable but I don't have the php head for it. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

"Add user" settings
Are you supposed to revive topics if no-one replies? I shall persevere...
If anyone has any thoughts I'd be well grateful - this is really essential for my site, and I'm sure others too.
What I'm after is an ''Add user" registration page, that has all the custom profile fields I've created, username and password etc., a user-role tick box and finally a 'send email' submission so that new members are notified of their new account. This would obviously only be accessable by administrators.
For a 'closed-access' website this seems to be a fairly essential feature, and should just be an extension of the existing 'add user' page. I reckon with just a few pointers I could get going on this, and will gladly post up my results.
Again, any help would be massively appreciated...

i too have the same issue.i am on search .i let you know sooner
Huh? Works for me.
Don't understand. My Drupal install has an "Add User" page, and it includes a checkbox labeled "Notify user of new account".
And it works. I created a user and he got notified. I know this because he responded basically with a "What the heck is this email about?" query.
What version of Drupal are you using? Did this problem start before or after you created all of those "custom profile fields" ?
The web is like usenet, but
the elephants are untrained.
Good. — Fast. — Cheap.
(Pick any two.)
