Default on creation for Author to visible/edit

Description
I inadvertently left the title field unchecked for visible and edit on the workflow creation state.
Turns out I didn't realize this since it appeared I could see and edit the title when I created a content node. However the node was saved without the title... author for the node was blank and the author created date was set to 1970-01-01 02:00:00 +0200
As admin I could seen the node in workflow summary with no title and could only edit from there.
Shouldn't it default to the author being able to edit node title since it is supposedly required (I was surprised I could save without a title or warning).
