Would there be any way of integrating this into CCK, so you could add it to any content type...?
that would be really powerful.

q0rban commentedHi Thomas,
Good idea! Can you describe some more how you're thinking this would function? Would you be adding an individual link, or would the field just load all the site links? Would one CCK field be equivalent to one link, or would each CCK field contain multiple links?

thomasmuirhead commentedthanks for getting back so soon.
I'd see it I suppose as cck field in which you could choose which site you wanted, then add in the url. It would automagically add the image as the link.
If you wanted to add 5 links to youtube you would then just add 5 of the same cck field and select youtube in each one or if you wanted one to youtube, one to myspace etc...you just add separate cck fields for each one and select the relevant site.
The flexibility of having them as separate CCK fields rather than clumped together is you may wish to display youtube on one side of the page next to your videos and flickr on the other next to your pictures...as individual cck fields they could go wherever you wanted.
This would be amazing.

q0rban commentedOk, I think I understand, but can you elaborate on this a bit:
When you are talking about youtube on one side of your page, and flickr on the other side, are you referring to blocks? AFAIK, there's no way to add CCK fields to blocks.
If you're not talking about blocks, you could probably accomplish this with link, but you'd have to do some custom theming in order to get a class added depending on what the second level domain is.

thomasmuirhead commentedsorry, what I mean is just that if each link was a different cck field then the order and layout on the page could be more flexible, for example if you were using contemplate or panels you could arrange the cck fields wherever you wanted.
As separate cck fields it also makes the user experience for a content editor rather than an administrator easier. If there's a field called 'Artist YouTube Link', into which they add a youtube url, and it pops up with a youtube image automagically...then that's simple and instinctive.
does that makes sense?

q0rban commentedMakes sense. I'm very open to patches for this, but I don't foresee having the time to do this myself for a while. Thanks, Thomas!

q0rban commentedI don't really have any interest in working on this, so I'm going to set as won't fix.
