I was just wondering is there is space to allow a cover page image to be added for each record. Then if we can add a PDF file as optional for each record it will be great. We have we site for our University in Iraq where student are in great need for academic sources. We can add the record details and add the eBook to go with it.

You should be able to do this using Views now.

I hear you, the learning curve is rather steep. I have see some decent documentation, but unfortunately, I can't recall where :-(

I'm sure if you search around a bit you will find something.
