The limitation of 10 blocks is annoying, even if I hacked the module to get more blocks the block administration page would soon get unwieldly. Switching blocks on and off and limiting blocks to showing on specific pages is not ideal.
Is there any way of amending the module so we can type some code into a node stating the parameters currently shown in blocks as an additional method of getting the slideshow onto a computer screen. This would attract all the benefits of CCK, Views etc. Perhap setup a CCK type?

This is very much a possibility, but would also require a great deal of work. If there is anyone willing to help modify the code for it to work in this manner, I would greatly appreciate it as I do not know how long it will take to do this myself.
