Hi everyone, I am in the process of building a website for trade purposes. Simply it will be a portal where people will be able to post their products for sale at a fixed price or auction them. There will be need to categorize stuff with different buying options.

So, does any one of you know about a module which already has the same functionality or something similar?

I know it can be definitely done but if there is a module which serves the purpose already then there is definitely no need to reinvent the wheel.

i believe ubercart has an auctions module.

Ubercart does have an auctions module. There is also an Ubercart Marketplace module. The Marketplace module allows you to have other people sell things through your site and you can set a commission rate for them. I am currently developing a site using the auctions module. It's not quite ready for release, but you can check it out if you want to see what the auctions look like. People can post fixed price or auction items on the site. The way I'm setting mine up is to charge people to post a product (fixed or auction) and then use conditional actions to publish the node when payment has been confirmed.
