I have a small site in Drupal 6.10 with MySQL database. I have uploaded few mp3 files and video files in the sites directory for playback with SWFTools. Rest all are text files in Indic unicode script.
My problem is the size of ht MySQL databse. Now it shows 50MB, after repairing and optimizing the size reduced to 48MB. But before one or two weeks ago it was only 10.13MB! I have not added any data after that.
Frequently the size of the database is changing without doing much by me! I have activated the devel. module.
Please let me have your expert comments. Do you need any more details? The site is an average site with not much pictures or other files except those mp3 of video files. But those are stored in my home directory, not in MySQL database.

dawehnerthere are several things which could have blowed up your database
- a lot of stuff in cache_* tables
- a lot of entries in watchdog tables, perhaps you have sql errors on your site
- perhaps you enabled logging of sql queries
can you look which tables have a big size?

sunilkumar commentedYa, it is cahce_* tables and watchdog. Can I delete contents from those tables?

mdupontYes. It is normal that DB size increases since caches are stored in the DB. Configuring dblog module or deactivating it in favor or syslog could help.
