Search engines and my site!

nevermind - May 1, 2009 - 18:22

Sorry if this is silly, but my new Drupal site doesn't appear at all in search engines, even with key words that were carefully chosen to be specially relevant to it.
Tell me please, is that ordinary for any new site, or there is some thing wrong with my site, if it is the last, what I have to do?
sorry for my bad english.
Many thanks for any friendly response.

You should go here

dougzilla - May 1, 2009 - 18:42

You should go here http://www.dmoz.org/ , then figure out where you think your site belongs in the grand scheme of things. Submit your url and it will get listed pronto.
This is the Dmoz entry in wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Directory_Project

Also why not install google analytics http://drupal.org/project/google_analytics
This will get your site listed as well.

While you are at it http://drupal.org/project/xmlsitemap will make your site even more google friendly.

Have fun.

Very kind of you!

Making a site with Drupal

dmsumon - May 1, 2009 - 18:53

Making a site with Drupal doesn't gives any guarantee that your site will be indexed by search engines. Actually no one in this world can ensure you that. But getting indexed by search engines is a long process. It takes time. You must learn search engine optimization (SEO). You should read books on SEO.

And always remember one thing that in the world of CMS Drupal is the best because it is very very very search engine friendly. Okay have a good day. And if you want then I can also provide you with resources on SEO. Bye and TC

Hi dmsumon..
I can see your point, but I thought it was getting high rank that needs a long process, but to just get indexed is natural (that wat I had before your replay), any way, grateful for this and grateful if you provided me with the SEO resources.

Getting indexed By Search Engines

dmsumon - May 1, 2009 - 19:36

hello Nevermind....

If you want to get indexed by Google or other major search engines then follow a simple step. If you can manage a backlink from a high rank site then you will be indexed within 24 hours. Now the problem is how you will get a back link on a high ranked site? Okay i am giving you a very easy solution. Go to this site http://www.linkreferral.com and open an account then you will be able to put an backlink on this high ranked site. And i can give you guarantee that you will be indexed within two days not more than three. have fun friend.

I'm going to give it a try,

nevermind - May 1, 2009 - 19:40

I'm going to give it a try, why not!?, after all, if there is no thing to get, there is no thing to lose ;-)

@dmsumon I respectfully beg to differ.

dougzilla - May 1, 2009 - 19:21

Getting listed is straight forward and pretty quick these days. I have in the recent past submitted a site to DMOZ and have had it picked up by Google within 36 hours.

Getting a high Google ranking is where SEO comes in, and it is not the black art that folks make it out to be.
The SEO Checklist module provide a good set of tools/methodology to make your site very search engine friendly. Most of this is just common sense.

The Meta tags module http://drupal.org/project/nodewords ,is also very useful.

Thanks for the following
