I created a view to display teaser text on the home page.
I want to display the first 2 lines of content, and provide a link "read more..." for rest of the content.
I set the more link to "yes" in view settings, but still cant see the link.

"Node: Link"
You can find what you're looking for here.
It simply requires adding the field "Node: Link". It should be in the "Fields" section in the Views display.
As for limiting the number of lines, i think this will depend on the width of your column. When you click on a fields name in Views, it gives you access to a checkbox labeled "Trim this field to a maximum length". There you can provide a character count. The best number for this probably depends on your column's width, font/font-size, etc. (don't forget operating systems and browsers!).
