Interesting.. When will their be code? ^_^

Thanks for the question.. I am still way early stages but that said I dont think this is going to be that complicated of a module to start. Still, this is my first project so I cant make any promises on how quick I'll get some code up; but I will ASAP cause if anyone can review and help it would be exceedingly valuable for my learning process.

I really want this to be a module that starts simple, maybe later can have contribs, that way people just needing a simple setup (most IMO) have an easy place to start. I found that a lot of my clients only need the basics, the other two options seemed ill-fitted for a small company/org just wanting to post/manage their jobs on their Drupal site with the aid of already existing drupal goodies.

I really dont want to step on any toes cause the other job'ish modules are great in their own regard. So yeah, I want make sure Jobs is different and when it does become more complicated I want it to be through integration with other modules or sub-contribs.

When I get some code up I'll post on it in this thread so it shows up in your tracker.

I'm going to get this going as soon as I get my current projects new template done (almost there!!) .. the next order of business for them is the jobs gizmo. If you wanted to something going right away you can use a combination of views, cck and a tpl to knock something simple out relatively quickly.

I am interested in the design philosophy of this module as well, especially the notion of being able to create multiple "job types" from one core. We have Users and Providers on our site and need to give Users and Providers ability to post basic consulting jobs AND more complex project RFQ's. All visitors will be able to view basic post info, but only Providers will be able to respond to posts. User identity will be kept private and Users will have ability to compare/sort resumes and RFQ responses through Views and only reach out (via Private Message already installed) to those providers who meet their requirements. Kind of like a bidding system for professional services jobs and projects.

I am willing to help with testing on our dev site as soon as you have something to start with. I am not a coder, but a sales/marketing/busdev professional who likes to tinker.

Interesting, I have given some thought to the possibility of bidding on jobs, I thought it could be useful for various reasons. Things like these should conceivably be simple to achieve with CCK's flexible/abundant fields and module integrations. What your talking about can be done by using pure cck/views/perms etc, what Im hoping my module does is give a general quickstart to this process, and fill in the gaps where needed.

I'm there with you! We develop businesses and marketing is our bread and butter, we have our hands in a lot these days. Ive always been into design and web stuff but Drupal has expanded my coding skills by leaps and bounds, its kind of addicting in a masochistic sort of way! lol

Once I have traversed the process of building this module I think I will have really stepped up my skills. Hopefully I'll have some code up soon to get feedback! I'm still reading up on integration of cck, views n such. Should have something soon hopefully! Fingers crossed!

Well .. im beginning to think that perhaps this module should instead be a feature http://drupal.org/project/features .

It seems to me that my original inspiration for this module about depending on cck etc fits beter with features. This would allow things to be more modularized. Perhaps we can have a set of several different jobs types ... one for the basic needs of a small company webiste which was my original intent for this all along.

Im going to take a shot at creating this into a feature. I'll post back asap.

You know ive totally been so busy that ive never posted any code to this; I will soon though since I do need this for some current projects. Ive been preoccupied a real estate project but its nearing its release so I should have loads more time to do other stuff soon.

Now that im good with working with the features module and more familiar with drupal, plus Ive also made a few custom modules of my own for projects and understand the process at a much better level... now I should be able to post something worthy of being here lol. ... even though this is a super simple module I think thats what makes it useful.
