Issue Summary
I love this module! I have a feature request, and if this is already available I apologize and ask that someone show me how to do it. :)
I would like to see mailing lists set to be independent of each other on what user rolls can subscribe to a newsletter instead of just having the option to select which roles can subscribe to ANY newsletter. For example, if I have a few different newsletters that both anonymous and authenticated users can subscribe to but also a "members only" newsletter available only to users that have registered, I don't see anyway at this time to block anonymous from being able to sign up for the members only one other than to limit anonymous from subscribing to any newsletters at all. It would be great if there was a setting so that in the above situation the newsletter subscription page would show the available mailing lists to anonymous users and would add the additional members only list to the choices for authenticated users.

Perhaps this was intended a feature request for Simplenews Roles.

This is not for SN roles. That deals with sync from roles -> subs.
This feature was raised here: #684080: consider opt settings / optional rolebased access.
In my opinion, it should either be a further contrib module, or part of Simplenews core (if getting access control into the subscription form via hook_form_alter proves too hackish!)
