HTTP request status fails

Is this fixed or is it still a problem with latest drupal?

As I recall I applied the fix for it and it worked on some versions.

Have not applied the latest drupal on my sites.

Sensibly, since it is security update I will install regardless of HTTP status thingy.

I still see lot of support requests on this topic.

I got the same problem...

just updated from 6.11 to 6.12 and got the problem... I didn't follow the upgrade directions carefully, that could be why?

Same problem here. I just setup a new site with 6.12 and have the error. So it's probably not an 'upgrade' issue.

I guess that module is fine, but it doesn't explain the underlying problem. I reset my flag manually, and it was fine for a bit, but then reset itself as a failure later on.

I'm having the same issue, I have two drupal sites on a single server. One does 'not' have that error, the other does. I don't see anything in the configuration that would be causing it, and I've been assured by the person who setup the server that there isn't anything that would be blocking that second site from making requests out.

So other than a module that forces that flag to be happy every so often, if the site 'truly' can't make requests out to check on module updates, versions, etc, it seems broken to me. Should I not be trying to treat the problem and not the symptom?

Update: Did some reading in other 'http request failed' threads and found 'one' guy who had a small post that indicated his site "couldn't talk to itself". That is exactly the problem I'm having. So looks like I found a way to treat the problem.

Site name in /etc/hosts solved my problem. Drupal error message text looks stupid.
