Project:FCKeditor - WYSIWYG HTML editor
Version:5.x-2.x-dev
Component:Code
Category:bug report
Priority:normal
Assigned:Unassigned
Status:closed (fixed)

Issue Summary

This occurs on IE6 and IE7 in the FCKeditor v2.6.4 module on Drupal v5.12. It can be observed happening on the FCKEditor/Drupal demo site at http://drupal.fckeditor.net/

Steps to reproduce:

Arrange window so an FCKeditor is low on page and not visible when window is scrolled to top.
Scroll down the the FCKeditor and start typing.
Leave the cursor in that editor and use vertical slider to move to top of page.
Click on *anything* and the window jumps back down to the editor.
Hyperlink clicks are ignored, page jumps down.

This does NOT happen if you scroll using the scroll wheel.
This does NOT happen if there is a selection range in the editor.

Also meant to add this behaviour does not occur in the bare FCKeditor samples or when using FCKeditor module in (for example) SugarCRM

I'm using Drupal 6 but have the similar problems with IE and FCK. The biggest complaint is that when you scroll down to click the Save button (or any button for that matter) after entering content, the screen jumps up and you have to scroll down and click Save again. This has led to some ppl thinking they have saved content in Drupal when they haven't. I've read on other boards that this is thought to be caused by FCK.

can anyone confirm this, and is there a fix?

Does it happen with IE8 for you? I don't have this with IE8 personally.

I can see this behaviour at the Drupal test page. At my local installation I can't reproduce it. My versions are:

FCKeditor: 2.6.4.1
fckeditor.module: 5.x-2.x-dev
Drupal: 5.19

Closing this until I have a better indication of the environments that have this issue.

I'm encountering this issue in IE7 but not in Firefox, with FCKeditor 6.x-1.4-rc1. I can also duplicate it at http://drupal.fckeditor.net/ (scroll right to the bottom so the editing cursor is not visible before clicking Preview Comment).

What is your FCKeditor version? Have you tried IE8?

I experience the same problem in IE7. I have not tried in IE6 nor IE8. I am using Version 2.6.4 and Drupal 6.14 w/ latest 6.x stable FCKeditor module. I can also get this to happen on the demo site http://drupal.fckeditor.net/ by just replying to a comment in IE7. To get it to repeat:

1) Click to reply to a comment
2) Type something in the node body
3) Fill out the captcha
4) Click in the body/editor again and leave the cursor there w/o clicking anywhere else
5) Scroll down the page so the cursor is not visible in your window.
6) Click immediately on the preview button.

This not only fails to submit, but seems to ruin the actual submit itself. I have a site where when this is done, when the user tried to submit a second time, they get the 403 page.

I am not changing the version number on this, but it appears this affects both Drupal 5 and 6.

Is it happening for you for FCKeditor module version 2? If so, please reopen and reassign to the right version.
