Been thinking of this and once a stable 6.x gets released, doing a backport to 5.x would be the easiest thing to do; call it 5.x-2.0.

According to the stats, there are only ~ 150 sites still using Boost on Drupal 5.x, compared to more than 2000 with Drupal 7.x.
I think it's safe to close this issue and focus on 6.x & 7.x only?
