The last couple times I tried to update the me module (most recently to 6.x-2.6) the change is not reflected on the "available updates" page (at admin/reports/updates). I've overwritten the files a couple times to make sure I had the most recently download, and still nothing happens. I'm wondering why this is happening, and how I might know for sure I'm upgraded to the more recent version.

I'm not sure what is going on here. I've had issues with it on and off, but I don't think it's anything 'me' has done. All the update hooks do is alter the modules weight so that it doesn't interfere with other modules, and this is a simple thing to achieve with the Util module.
