We are currently running a both internal and external enterprise community based on confluence wiki with Themebuilder and Bubbles plugins.
This works very well, but confluence has a limit of 100.000 users that we are probably soon gonna surpass in the near future. We are doing our homework now while looking for valid alternatives.

I would like to know if Drupal is able to handle up to 1.000.000 users, if it supports wiki functionality and what the issues are regarding the migration from confluence to joomla.

furthermore i would like to know the downsides of using Drupal.

I don't have an answer for you in specifics. Especially where you are asking about moving from your current CMS to Joomla.
