Expiration of subscription does not change role

I created a one day subscription that sets a user role to Paid User. I had user purchase a subscription. PayPal accepted the transaction and Lm-Paypal set the role for that user to Paid User. The protected content was then available to the user. After one day the content became unavailable, as planned. So far so good. However, when the user then goes out to subscribe again (to get another day of access) lm_paypal shows him as already being subscribed. Shows up that way in LM backend as well. Plus if I look at user's role, he is still assigned to Paid User. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

How can user resubscribe once their subscription expires?
