Default payment via Credit Card not PayPal account

Description

Hi,

This might be more of a PayPal question - apologies if it is.

Using LM PayPal Subscriptions module to process payments for a members-based Drupal site. When user clicks on the Subscribe button and is taken to the PayPal Payment page, they are shown the PayPal login box and then the text
"Dont have a PayPal account? Use your credit card or bank account (where available)."

Is it possible to skip this screen and take the user directly to the "Use your credit card" screen? I've had a dig through the lm_paypal settings and my account settings in PayPal, but can't see where this can be configured.

Cheers,

Marc

If you can find out how to do this (on paypal site) we might be able to add this

Hi,

Thanks for the reply - I had a good look around the PayPal developer docs and couldn't find any info on how to enable this via an IPN - that's not to say the info isn't there, it's just I'm not that sure what to be looking for :)

Cheers,

Marc

My test user is not able to subscribe to my site and get a role through lm_paypal. I am able to subscribe test users from my office computer (with difficulty - any typo or misstep and you cannot fix it). When my test user clicks subscribe on my site (the button with the visa/mc subscribe), they get sent to paypal. Then paypal asks for their card info, then asks them for a paypal email and password. Then they have the choice of linking a credit card to their paypal account or skipping the screen. Skipping the screen sends them to linking the credit card. Linking the credit card accepts only a different credit card than used before. When the user us done with that, they do not have a choice to subscribe to my site. They have gone down a path that is of no use.

Yes, I would certainly use any version of LM_PayPal that can skip as much of PayPal as possible. I have another (non-drupal) site where I use PayPal's Website Payments Standard to handle credit card payments for an electronic-download product (one time). PayPal works great for that. As you can see, I'm having trouble working with PayPal for subscriptions.

I will troubleshoot this a bit more - but am about fed up with PayPal. Any pointers would be appreciated - I need to get the subscription process to be fool-proof or at least easily usable.

The LM_PayPal on my drupal site seems to work fine - thanks at least for that.

I agree that this is a very important hurdle to be overcome. Users don't like to click too many times and people will not see the very small text on the bottom letting them know they can use their regular credit card instead of having a subscribe to be a member of PayPal just to be a member of my site as well.

I am facing this problem as well. I will try and make changes and post a solution if I find one. In the meantime, if someone else finds it first I would be very happy to use that... I'm not a proud man. :)

Cheers.

Looking at the thread linked by wickedshaman, it doesn't look like paypal are interested in fixing this (they don't care about our conversion rates, just how many user accounts they have?!?)

Hi all,

Thanks for your replies on this one - it does seem like a PayPal issue alright, I certainly haven't been able to find a work-around.

The best thing to do is provide appropriate user prompting and letting users know to look for the link and not close their browser until PayPal brings them back to your site if you have that option turned on.
