I use a custom path and it works fine

Only check box is "Syncronise changes to this vocabulary" other are unchecked
(thats misspelled BTW synchronize)

If I click "Display Descendants" the menu disappears. I've tried a few times with the "regenerate menus" checkbox enabled and disabled. But I can't get it to show the descendants.
