Hi

I have read a load of threads about default subscription to newletter on registration and now totally confused. Is it or is it not yet possible without fooling around with code?

I'm still very new to Drupal and definitely not smart enough to understand how to apply patches.

I'm using v6.2 with simplenews_on_register module. It is enabled and anonymous users have permission to subscribe. I want to have the checkbox to subscribe to newsletter ticked by default on the registration page. I dont seem to have the additional 'Settings' fieldset under Admin > Content Management > Newsletters > Settings as described on the project page.

Can someone please suggest what I might be missing or tell how to have the newsletter subscription box ticked by default when signing up for registration.

Thanking all in advance.

You'll have to provide more info then that-- i just installed the current versions of simplenews and simplenews_register and I get the "User registration page options" fieldset at the bottom of the admin/settings/simplenews/general page no problem.

Well, I can pile on and say "me too" as well. I am having the same issue. I reverted everything and followed the steps again. There is only one newsletter and one newsletter taxonomy. I have my page at admin/content/simplenews/types/edit/14 set to:
Subscribe new account: Default/ On
Opt-in/out method: Single

I am led to believe this SHOULD give me a "Select the newsletter(s) to which you wish to subscribe." field on my User Profile that defaults to being checked. It does not. It is always checked.

I tried adding the "Simplenews on register" module. THAT caused a second checkbox for the same newsletter to appear. That one could be set to default to checked, but the old one remained. Having two of the same check boxes plus the word "array" getting printed above them, did not look good.

I am using the core module Profile, which is turned off by default. I wonder if the other two users have this on as well. Could this be the root of our problem? Do other people have the auto opt-in feature working well?

Just wondering if this is related to my searching for the opt-in / out option. I had used it before and needed to change something - but I couldn't find it - up-down, back and forth - then this thread got me going into the right direction:

Finally I found it here - http://www.example.com/admin/settings/simplenews/general / ...../admin/settings/simplenews/general
Scroll down and under the collapsed heading - User registration page options
I found the setting options.

The problem was that this important setting table was collapse and not easy to find.
