I have a development version of 6.x-dev that works searching files on my local sandbox, but the integration with Swish-E is so server specific its often hard to support so many environments. I would recommend if you have a client project and dont have a strong business case to use "Swish-E" technology to use Search Files or Apache SOLR search. They are both better options. I dont actively work with Swish-E anymore sadly.
