The handbook says that the first user should be used only for administrative purposes. Anyway UID1 has a user profile and it is listed among all other users.
I propose to disable user profile for UID1

that page you linked http://drupal.org/node/22284
Shouldn't really be a handbook page as it's an opinion more than anything else.
however, I think it might be better to make it an optional setting..i.e. allow the administrator to decide whether the profile page is shown or not.

I use the admin account for my personal account, even though I'm not supposed to. I don't like setting up an extra role for myself, and I know what I'm doing, so I'm not going to mess it up.
If anything, I think each user should have the option to hide their profile, and the person with user admin rights should be able to hide any users profile. Not sure on showing profiles for admin, as it should be the users option, and if they hide it, the admin shouldn't be able to unhide it (maybe?).

killes@www.drop.org commentedthat would be like disabling email for the root account on a unix system. nobody does that.
