Introduction to the Siruna transcoding engine
The Siruna transcoding engine is a online service providing you means to create and manage mobile websites. Making mobile websites enables you to reach a large audience and is device independent. No need to make applications for the iPhone, Windows Mobile, Android, Symbian, etc .... One well designed website serves most devices. This flexibility comes at a certain cost due to device fragmentation.
- Different Screen sizes
- Different Browsers
- Different capabilities (xHTML/CSS/javascript)
- Limited input and different browse paradigms
Siruna helps you managing this complexity.
The Siruna software runs as a service and is free for non-commercial usage (personal blog, volunteering, non-profit, ...) . It consists of two parts:
- A transcoding engine (doing all the difficult work)
- A graphical frontend to configure the transcoding engine (also called the composer: http://composer.siruna.com)
The configuration of the transcoding is done using an easy to use xml based scripting language.
