I'm looking for a hosting provider that offers space for multiple drupal sites - so I want multiple databases and domain names. I have a number of sites I plan to put live.

Reading a couple of posts, hostgator (http://www.hostgator.com) seems to offer this. Only thing is, they only seem to offer Linux web hosting and not Windows.

I'm a little out of my depth here, having never used Linux. I build on a Windows laptop, and have always used Windows in the past. Could anyone advise on whether this would be a problem? With my Drupal site built and ready, would there be significant differences in installation and setup onto a linux web host as opposed to a Windows host? Or would I be able to transfer the files over as usual?

That aside, anyone else used Hostgator? Anything else you might like to report back?

thanks a bunch in advance!

what you design your site on and what they run on in the server environment has nothing to do with each other really.

you can design in windows, upload it to a linux run server and it will work perfectly well.

Windows servers have a noticable disadvantage with running scripts as most use a linux based system and as such there is far more documentation and far fewer headaches using that platform.

Exactly what I wanted to hear, fantastic.

I reckon I'll go with HostGator then, the reviews on this site have been pretty good.

Unless anyone else has any experiences to share about them?

I'd use google and the terms drupal hostgator to see what kinds of reviews are out there.

Hostgator should do fine. but if you insist windows hosting, EasyCGI should be on your top list. They are the specialist for windows hosting

Hostgator is pretty good, even their shared hosting solution can support Drupal very well, and run fast.

And linux is always the right choice for Drupal site, and it's much cheaper than Windows one.
