In a thread on ubercart.org, Lyle suggested that uc_weightquote should be upgraded to support multiple shipping rules in the same way that uc_flatrate does. Openly Connected have sponsored this work for D5/Ubercart 1.x, so please find a patch for 5.x-1.7 attached.

If this isn't suitable for Ubercart 1.x at this stage, it could still be used as a basis for providing this feature in Ubercart 2.

This patch was committed and included into the Ubercart 5.x-1.8 release on on 23 Sept 09. See http://drupal.org/cvs?commit=266828. Not sure why this issue was never closed ...
