Errors showing when cron processes more than one mail2web, and a higher and higher queue number

Description

Hello --

There are a couple worrisome problems with my Mail2Web installation, which overall is working pretty well. Attached Screenshot document will make it clearer...

There are two, possibly related, issues:

(1) When I use mail2web and more than one email is submitted into the forum in between cron runs, then (a) it only processes the first email that was sent through, (b) in a pink box, four separate "bad message number" errors appear as shown in the screenshot (when the cron is done manually that is) … (c) on subsequent runs it seems to then process the remaining emails (one at a time I believe.)

(2) Possibly related: I notice that when I go to Administer>Subscriptions, the number of "notifications in queue" are always getting higher and higher -- the queue doesn't reset down to zero when the mail2web cycle happens. Even though it is usually processing the notification emails and accepting the replies and posting them correctly, the "Notifications in Queue" number always simply increments in number -- now it is up to 462!! See the screenshot…. Isn't that supposed to be clearing itself each time?

THANK YOU! - Eric

eric,
this problem cropped up over in the mailhandler queue #349141: Bad message number on retrieval some time back and it was patched. which version of mailhandler are you using?

there have been a few releases of all these email modules and i have not had a chance to get them all together on a test site and give them a fresh spin.

r,
coby

Hi there -- thanks for looking into this --

-- my Mailhandler version is 6.x-1.5

-- For further info, I took a full screenshot of my modules page with all versions etc... it is attached in a PPT (since that allows a huge tall graphic without truncating.)

Any news on how these 2 bugs can be fixed?

THANKS
eric

sorry -- maybe this is obvious to some, but if I update to the latest version of mailhandler, is the idea that that will fix both my "spiraling queue numbers" problem as well as the errors problem?

thanks!! --eric

I just tested this and there appear to be issues with the mailhandler still. I've posted on http://drupal.org/node/349141#comment-1661234

thanks much, appreciate it. Just so I know: while this is being resolved, is mail2web not really viable? or are there configurations of earlier versions that would be the "last stable collection" of modules to make the feature?

thanks

eric

Eric - I do not know of earlier configurations that would not be affected by this. So, if you're using m2w in an active site where more than one reply is coming in per cron run, you're likely to run into this. It appears that the messages are not lost, but rather added after consecutive cron runs, but I've not tested that thoroughly. Anyway, if the mailhandler issue is not fixed before the weekend, I may try and debug it. I'll post any updates.

Eric - if you switch your mailbox settings for the mailhandler mailbox in Drupal to use IMAP instead of POP (and set the server address, port, etc in those respective fields), you may no longer have this issue. I posted a patch for this mailhandler issue over here http://drupal.org/node/349141#comment-1727844 which tries to fix the issue for POP as well. If you try switching to IMAP please post back whether that fixes the issue. Thanks.

The patch at http://drupal.org/node/349141#comment-1727844 has been committed to the dev version. It would be great if anyone is able to test that out for this issue.

Hey there --

I am testing this now, using imap, with all new downloads of the modules... hopefully I'll get a sense of if the bug went away.

also pushing forward the documentation I was making, as I do this.

thx
eric

This bug is resolved if you use the most recent DEV versions of mail2web and the most recent mailhandler and other supporting modules.

Also, I just uploaded some documentation that helps with the process of installing mail2web. It is at:
http://drupal.org/node/542118
