vm commentedinvestigate the mass contact module

barrett commentedThanks VeryMisunderstood, but we're really looking to integrate it with our existing messaging system, which is built off the Messaging Framework.

David Goode commentedThis would be a very simple module to write, or if you were feeling lazy (who isn't) you could just make an OG group with everyone in it and use the group broadcast function, making allowed people admins.

barrett commentedI hadn't considered that, David, but it makes good sense. Thanks. I'll check it out.
I've also put writing a module to do it on my list of stuff to do, but it's a pretty long list....and I'm pretty lazy. :^)

artkon commentedProblem with multisend function in messaging.
Timeout was not being used inside the loop of the multisend function.
The following patch can be used to broadcast to large number of users and will update current messages sent so that no repeating emails get sent.
The cron processing limits on messaging admin can be used to control the number of messages sent and time limit on each cron job.
I posted a patch->http://drupal.org/node/1023376 to use in conjuction with this one to have a messaging framework using og_notifications and messaging, useful to broadcast to large number of users.

artkon commentedThere is a problem with my previous patch and using my broadcast patch on og_notifications. When reaching high volumes of messages (above 500) , the cron job sometimes crashes before any limits preset by the user are reached, thereby the array of destinations doesn't get updated and the end of the loop never gets reached, meaning that emails just keep going out.
The solution is in the following patch, where I'm updating the array every time a message gets sent by storing it in cache_set().
