I've looked a few different things like the audio module, dash player and swf tools, but none of them seem to be what i need.
I'm using ubercart to sell mp3 files, so I upload my files to a directory via FTP, I dont upload thru any kind of filefield within drupal.
I want something very, very simple. I want a basic mp3 player that can just play all the mp3s within a particular folder on the server, or if it can use a .M3U playlist that would work too.
All I want is a player that loads a group of mp3s so the user can listen before purchasing, the main problem is most players I have looked at require that the files are upload thru drupal using nodes/CCK fields. I just want to point the player at the files on the server.
Any ideas?

eveything created for drupal will no doubt be written in a such as way as to expect the end user will be using it with drupal.
If you want to bypass drupal, simply find an mp3 player using google that has the feature set you want and embed it in a page.
Yeah i guess thats the way to
Yeah i guess thats the way to approach this, I'm not really trying to bypass drupal as such, its just the fact that the audio files are uploaded primarily to work with ubercart file downloads, and I don't want to have to have to upload a separate set of files for the mp3 previews. An ubercart mp3 streaming preview module for selling mp3 files would be the ideal solution if it existed :)
Thanks for the tip!

I know of at least one player that allows a choice in how long a file will play. Ideally though, I prefer to create 30 second clips and only allow a player to see those. If a user finds their way to my "clipped" files, I don't care. Protecting the FULL length digital media that is being sold is my priority when distributing, for sale, an item in a digital medium.
hi.. I cant tell which one
hi..
I cant tell which one your are looking for?
1. mp3 show room
a feature that will keep on playing the mp3's selling in your site.
User may come and enjoy the mp3's (may be just first 30sec) and buy if he/she like the mp3.
2. per-listen before buy
user may pick a mp3 (by search etc) and before pay, he/she may listen the first 30sec then make decision (buy or not buy).
feature 1 is active (web master decide what mp3 to play) and feature 2 is passive (user decides what mp3 to play).
what u are looking for?
by the way, if there's on FREE solution, why not try the PAY solution ($50?).
Good day.
VeryMisunderstood, it's
VeryMisunderstood, it's probably a better idea to create a separate set of short clips, maybe at a lower quality also, I'm just trying to avoid admin time and duplicating tasks, thanks for the input its definitely something to think about and you've swayed me toward doing this tbh.
mm167, its 2. listen before buy that I'm interested in.

where is your site? is it already open?
if i can see your site, I may tell u how to add the "per-listen" feature.
The site is still under
The site is still under development, and there isn't a working version i can show you yet.
I will basically have a product created with ubercart, this product will consist of several mp3 files (a release)
The customer will be able to view the names of the tracks included in the release along with some info and an image.
I just need a player embedded on the product page to allow the customer to preview clips of all the tracks before purchase.

30 sec trial
if u are using the mp3player module, u may allow your user to listen to the mp3.
if u replace the standard mp3 player (suggested in that module) by my 30splayer (30 sec free trial player), u may limit your user to enjoy only the first 30 sec of the mp3 FREE. (the 30splayer is US$50 paypal price and u may try it FREE in May).
good day.
