This could be used in combination with #417664: Action: switch theme among many other use cases.

The closest related discussion I could find regarding Entity API and $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'] was in #402438: Add proper API functions and hooks to allow other modules to interact with Feedback messages.
