I am developing a medium-size homes site and I started it in drupal 5 Jan of this year before I had a handle on drupal 6 bc I didn't know much d6 at the time. I would like to hire someone who is an expert at upgrading d5 sites to d6 to upgrade this site.

The most important modules/data are the CCK/Views. I'm not sure exactly how exactly to upgdade view templates since views 2 changed up the way templates are made, I suppose most of my templates would be converted to view item templates.

I have a couple custom modules but I think they will be pretty easy to upgrade.

If you can give me a ballpark price/hours range I will contact candidates with the link for the development site for a more detailed estimate. I would like as much ported to d6 as possible though I realize there might be a couple modules that can't be carried over.

Please only experts who have done this multiple times. Thanks! -J

Were you able to find anyone to do this and if so, how did they do? I am considering doing the same thing, but I dont have time to do it myself.

Likewise, lots of views, nothing migrating automatically.
At least the situation is better than last year at the same time, since almost everything else can currently migrate correctly.

So far, I'm stuck with
- user images, since usernode is no longer around... migrating attached images to avatars is going to be a LOT of gruntwork.
- views, all of them... at least I have a list on the old site.

but, hey, having cck and views out of beta ought to count for something doesn't it ? ;/

don't really have the cash to do it and i question whether someone other than me could convert the views correctly.

converting my modules i think would be pretty easy bc there's not much different btwn what im doing in d5/d6 other than things like l() functions for example.

the difference btwn views 1.0 and 2.0 are so dramatic i wish there was a way to 'backport' - (what's the opposite of backport?) views 1.0 into d6. i would enable the views 1.0 module and convert everything else and then if that worked i would live with 1.0 probably indefinitely.

are there tools that scan code to look for d5 syntax?

has anyone tried to port views 1.0 to drupal 6? i'd be very interested. i love views 2.0 and i am very comfortable with that i just think the effort of upgrading d5 to d6 is going to be indefinitely blocked by the fact that converting 1.0 views to 2.0 is so difficult.
