I got an error in google webmaster tools that said:
Unsupported file format
Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. Please ensure it meets our Sitemap guidelines and resubmit
clean URLs are on and have been since before xmlsitemap installation.
To check out the problem, I navigated to my sitemap http://www.sanduskyspotlight.com/sitemap.xml and instead of seeing link tables, I found:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9" /> I am not sure what I did wrong, but clearly I screwed something up... any help would be greatly appreciated :)
TIA

dave reidThis is happening because the cache files are not being created, so the module outputs an 'empty' sitemap XML instead of a 404 error. See #458546: Cache files are not created for the original bug report and for some temporary solutions to get it working for you.
This empty sitemap causes a validation error since there are supposed to be links in it.

brokensanity commentedHey everyone, i created a node with this snippet:
Then I shift-refreshed both the node, and the sitemap.xml file, and the .xml file appeared to be populated with content links.
Running the beta3 module on Drupal 6.12 with PHP 5.2.8 and MySQL 5.0.67
I didn't even have to run cron, though i would recommend it.

avpadernoI am changing the status of the report.

avpadernoThinking better, this issue is different from the other; the format is reported as not supported because the empty sitemap returned in case of error doesn't actually contain any URL. I am going to fix this.

bstrange commentedI actually switched to the 6x dev version as mentioned in the caching thread after a clean uninstall and the problem persists. Have run cron etc.
avpadernoI am setting this report as fixed because it got an answer.
The last commits made in CVS for 6.x-1.x-dev should resolve this problem because the code tries to get the link data directly from the modules, when the cache files are not created.

Nice workaround, thanks, it worx.
Do not forget to activate the PHP input filter module, and set the appropriate input format for that page.
avpadernoYou are welcome, but there is no need to thank me. Yes, it was me who suggested that trick, and brokensanity simply reported that that trick works. See #458546-12: Cache files are not created.

dave reidYes. Took a look at your sitemap files and the look just fine. Open another issue if you continue to have problems.
