I think that it would be super sweet to be able to click a pop up window and enter in colors for font classes, and back grounds. A form with a text field, where a user could enter hex, next to it a color selection helper would be nifty.

This seems like a request for two things:

1. color selector
2. themes that could incorporate the colors selected in the selector

I believe that the color selector might be best located in CCK (though that could be horribly wrong)
I believe that the themes work is very separate and should be debated separately in a separate issue - so, I created http://drupal.org/node/61513 for that issue and assign this one to CCK.

Not likely to make it into the core field types. A new project can be started for such a field module, though; CCK shouldn't prevent this in any way.

Pretty sure there's a contrib module on it's way for this. It's won't fix for cck core though.
